Q-Park OMNI to become Fringe venue for Peaceophobia show

Q-Park are delighted to have been selected as the venue partner to host Horizon Showcases’ performances of Peaceophobia (24 – 27 August) during this month’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Q-Park are delighted to have been selected as the venue partner to host Horizon Showcases’ performances of Peaceophobia (24 – 27 August) during this month’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The performance will take-over the basement floor of the car park for 4 days during the festival so parking and visiting the festival could not be easier. The Fringe is a three-week festival of performing arts that takes place in Edinburgh every August that draws visitors from around the world. Edinburgh welcomes an explosion of creative energy from around the globe. Artists and performers take to hundreds of stages all over the city to present shows for every taste including theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre, circus, cabaret, children's shows, musicals, opera, music, spoken word, exhibitions and events.

Presented by Fuel with Common Wealth, Speakers Corner and Bradford Modified Club, Peaceophobia is an unapologetic response to rising Islamophobia around the world. Part car-meet part-theatre, the show explores how you find peace in a world that tells you who you are. Growing up in the shadow of the Bradford Riots, 9/11 and police harassment, cars and faith are a sanctuary, an escape, an expression for three Muslim Pakistani men. Ali, Sohail and Casper are taking control of the narratives around their religion, their city, and their cars. Staged in the Q-Park OMNI car park with a Supra, a Golf and a classic Nova, Peaceophobia brings together cars and theatre with cinematic lighting and an original electronic sound score.

Q-Park have been an ever-growing presence in Scotland’s Capital City. In 2013 they acquired the car park underneath the popular OMNI Leisure Destination and began the process of modernising and improving the well-established parking facility. Then in 2015 Q-Park acquired the Quartermile car park on the south side of the City Centre and provided parking for the local offices, residents and visitors to the Royal Mile. Q-Park have built a reputation in Edinburgh for providing an excellent parking experience for both regular and first-time visitors to the city. Both facilities are extremely popular during the Fringe Festival.

John Denton, Head of Sales and Marketing commented ‘We are delighted to welcome the Peaceophobia show into our OMNI car park during Edinburgh Fringe. It is an honour to become a venue for such a world-famous event and we hope visitors enjoy the shows!’

Jodie Noble, Programme Producer from Horizon Showcase said ‘We’d like to thank Q-Park for their flexibility in providing space for our performance during what is a busy time for them. Their facilities are the ideal location for shows such as Peaceophobia and we’re excited and looking forward to getting the show on the road!’
