Q-Park introduces EV Charging to Edinburgh

Q-Park are delighted to announce the introduction of a new EV Charging Hub which consists of 8 charge points into their Q-Park OMNI parking facility.

Q-Park are delighted to announce the introduction of a new EV Charging Hub which consists of 8 charge points into their Q-Park OMNI parking facility.

Q-Park took over the OMNI car park in 2013 and since then the facility has gone under a huge transformation to bring it more into the modern age of parking. It was in fact their first car park in Edinburgh and the excellence of that operation has led to Q-Park acquiring two other parking facilities in Scotland’s capital city in recent years.

Q-Park are currently investing over £3m in the UK and Ireland on the rollout of initially over 600 electric vehicle charging points across their portfolio of parking facilities. Installations commenced last year and included the modernisation of the existing charging infrastructure with the latest state-of-the-art hardware. On completion of this significant deployment programme, discussions will start on future phases with Q-Park eager to remain at the forefront of electric charging in the parking market. The industry leading results of this project have been shown with Q-Park recently winning the ‘Best EV Chargepoint Provider Award’ at the EVolution Awards 2023.

Now that the works in Edinburgh have been completed, there are now eight 7kW EV Charging Points operated by Blink Charging and are available on a pay as you go basis, they are on the entry level of the car park. Users wanting to use these EV Charging Points simply need to plug their vehicle in and then tap their contactless bank card on the payment terminal next to it.

John Denton, Head of Commercial at Q-Park UK and IE commented ‘Liveability in urban areas is vitally important, and we are delighted to help support more emission free miles being driven with good quality charging infrastructure. Our comprehensive EV Charging Point roll-out is award winning and progressing throughout the country. We look forward to our new and existing customers in Edinburgh sampling our state-of-the-art EV Charging infrastructure.’
