Restart a Heart is an annual initiative led by RCUK to improve survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrests by increasing awareness and helping more people learn CPR and how to use a defibrillator. Taking place throughout October, the campaign brings together ambulance services, universities, charities and other organisations to provide training and educational opportunities across the UK. With fewer than one in ten people surviving an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the UK, the campaign aims to give more people the confidence and lifesaving skills to act quickly in the most time-critical medical emergency.
As part of a suite of convenient services, a defibrillator is available at most Q-Park parking facilities to provide potentially lifesaving support in the event of a cardiac arrest. Q-Park staff are trained to use the equipment and can provide crucial emergency assistance while waiting for an ambulance to arrive. Having defibrillators available within busy city centre car parks means important equipment can be close at hand when every second counts.
As part of the Restart a Heart campaign, Q-Park and RCUK will share informative videos on social media demonstrating how to perform CPR on someone having a cardiac arrest. By sharing this guidance, the campaign aims to give more people the knowledge and confidence to act in an emergency and potentially save a life. In addition to this if customers book parking before the 12th November 2026 using promo code RESUS10, they will receive 10% off their parking. Q-Park will then donate 10% of the revenue to RCUK to help fund the amazing work that they do.
Adam Bidder, Managing Director of Q-Park UK commented “We are thrilled to support Resuscitation Council UK and the incredible work they do. CPR training is mandatory for our frontline staff, helping ensure they have the skills and confidence to respond in an emergency and use the defibrillators available at our parking facilities. We encourage our customers to take the time to learn these lifesaving skills. You may never need to use them, but if you do, they could make a vital difference and potentially save a life.”
James Cant, CEO of Resuscitation Council UK, added “We are hugely thankful for the support of Q-Park for our Restart a Heart campaign. It is encouraging to see them investing resources into providing both the equipment and training for their staff across the UK.”
