An Interview with Nick Swales, Commercial Director at Sixt Rent a Car

Recently, we spoke with Nick Swales, Commercial Director at Sixt Rent a Car, to learn more about this partnership. Sixt operates numerous branches across Europe situated within Q-Park Mobility Hubs.

Q-Park has long been recognised for its commitment to creating sustainable Mobility Hubs within its network of city centre parking facilities. A vital element of these Hubs is the collaboration with other mobility providers who operate their businesses on-site.

Recently, we spoke with Nick Swales, Commercial Director at Sixt Rent a Car, to learn more about this partnership. Sixt operates numerous branches across Europe situated within Q-Park Mobility Hubs.

Why did you choose Q-Park to partner with?

We chose Q-Park to partner with because we view ourselves very much as a premium mobility company and we find that with Q-Park particularly here in Park Lane, it’s obviously a quality product in a quality location and therefore we’ve got good alignment of both our brands.

What do you like about working alongside Q-Park?

We like working with Q-Park in terms of from the top down, so we have a good strong relationship at the top in terms of innovation at looking at opportunities and possible deals all the way down to the actual operation itself, close working relationship at the ground level in terms of ensuring a smooth customer experience.

When you are looking to locate into a Mobility Hub, what are you looking for?

Quality, is what we’re looking for, quality in terms of location, quality in terms of product, and they’re things which we generally see and find in all of our Q-Park locations.

How would you define a Mobility Hub?

I’d define a mobility hub as a place where there are multi-modes of transport options available to customers within that one of the key opportunities or options available to the customer is car hire and we very much want to be at the forefront of those opportunities.

Is the Mobility Hub concept scalable to new cities for your company?

Definitely scalable to new cities we obviously have a national presence national coverage we’re always looking to grow that as we continue to expand as a business.

Why are Mobility Hubs great for car hire locations?

Great because they obviously provide a scale in terms of a number of spaces and obviously size of opportunity and great in terms of the proximity to tourist destinations and tourist locations.

What does car hire bring to a Mobility Hub?

Car hire is an essential of a Mobility Hub. We see ourselves as a key enabler in terms of both the business market and both in terms of the tourist market and in order to fulfil that you know car hire is key player within that market.

What benefits does working with Q-Park bring to Sixt?

If we want to be a national car hire provider, we obviously need to have a presence in multiple cities. Q-Park obviously have stock and availability in multiple cities so it allows us to offer that connectivity between cities offers that brand awareness and offers the opportunity to grow which we are keen to explore.
