Q-Park is proud to announce a new partnership with the Driving Instructors Association (DIA), aimed at supporting driving instructors by providing a unique and valuable training opportunity for learner drivers. This collaboration allows instructors to access Q-Park's modern city centre parking facilities to help their students develop essential urban driving and parking skills.
Through this initiative, learner drivers will be able to experience real-world challenges of city centre driving in a safe and controlled environment. The training focuses on navigating complex city lane systems, entering and exiting multi-storey car parks, manoeuvring within parking structures, and confidently parking in designated bays.
Q-Park’s facilities offer an ideal setting for such training. The car parks are clean, well-lit, and designed with enhanced safety in mind. Each parking bay is larger than the industry average, providing an accommodating space for learners to practice and build confidence in their abilities. This initiative underlines Q-Park’s commitment to road safety, community engagement, and the support of future drivers as they gain the skills required for driving in busy urban environments.
DIA Members can book online via the members area of their website for 30 minutes parking across parking facilities in 15 cities in the UK. They simply select the date enter their number plate and pay a nominal booking fee. They then have complete flexibility on when they want to use their 30 minutes of parking on that day. To make life even easier for their students, the Q-Park pre-booking system works on Number Plate recognition via their PaSS (Parking as a Smart System) technology meaning there is no need to stop and take a paper ticket on entry or exit.
John Denton, Director of Commercial at Q-Park UK commented "We’re delighted to partner with the DIA in making our car parks available for driving lessons. It’s essential that tomorrow’s drivers gain real-world experience in safe and accessible environments. We look forward to welcoming both driving instructors and learner drivers to our facilities across the country."
Carly Brookfields, CEO of the Driving Instructors Association added "Navigating city centres and multi-storey car parks can be a challenging prospect for young drivers. And with bay parking an integral part of the driving test, Learners need the opportunity to practice. That’s why we’re proud to be partnering with Q-Park to assist driving instructors in delivering even greater value by preparing learners for these real-life driving situations."
