Q-Park are delighted to announce the introduction of the state-of-the-art PaSS system into its Shambles car park in York City Centre. This new technology will create a more seamless parking experience for all customers.
Evolving technology has always played a large part in the Q-Park strategy of providing parking excellence and has enabled them to continually expand payment options, initially introducing cashless parking and then more recently ticketless parking. PaSS takes this a step further. This new Q-Park innovation is a combination of ANPR parking technology and a digital payment solution. Q-Park creates a seamless customer journey by allowing both access to the car park and taking payment for parking simultaneously. This all takes place by reading the number plate of a vehicle. Use of a debit/credit card while you are at the parking facility is no longer required. This technology is currently available at 14 other parking facilities across the Q-Park Estate including in major cities such as London, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool.
Following the successful integration of PaSS with pre-booking at the Shambles car park. Q-Park will then integrate their Mobile app for customers to use. With this app customers simply add their number plate and payment card onto their account. They can then seamlessly enter and exit PaSS enabled parking facilities without needing to take a ticket. Payment is then taken automatically on departure. Q-Park will also implement this innovative system as part of the Season Ticket offering to those who purchase long-term contracts. The overall aim of PaSS is to further enhance the convenience, transparency and seamlessness of the parking experience whilst developing Q-Park’s partnerships and creating new opportunities for the business.
Q-Park have operated 2 safe and secure parking facilities in York City Centre for a number of years. Q-Park Shambles is located in the heart of York city centre, just a short walk from well-known tourist destinations such as the Jorvik Viking Centre, York Minster and of course the Shambles itself. It is a very popular car park that is well utilised by first visitors to the city, commuters as well as many local residents who own property near the car park. They also operate the Q-Park Barbican car park. This facility is on the edge of the city centre but is also very popular for visitors to the famous York Barbican events venue as well guests at several hotels nearby.
John Denton, Head of Sales and Marketing at Q-Park commented ‘Q-Park are constantly looking for ways to improve parking for our customers. We are delighted to be able to implement this new technology which will provide our customers with seamless access when visiting the Q-Park Shambles car park in York. I look forward to using this service myself on my next visit to one of my favourite cities.’
