Q-Park is proud to unveil the complete transformation of the Windsor Royal car park, following its acquisition in August 2023. This ambitious refurbishment project marks a significant milestone in our commitment to delivering modern, sustainable, and customer-focused parking solutions.

Serving the bustling Windsor Royal Shopping Centre and the wider Windsor area, this facility has long been a vital part of local infrastructure. Recognising its ageing condition, Q-Park embarked on a comprehensive modernisation programme designed to meet the demands of today’s urban mobility while setting new standards for efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

The refurbishment tackled every aspect of the car park, starting with its structural integrity. Years of heavy use had taken their toll, leaving the concrete decks cracked and worn, which compromised both safety and longevity. Q-Park carried out extensive repairs to restore strength and ensure the facility meets modern standards, securing it for years to come.

To protect these improvements and keep the structure in top condition, we applied a durable, weather-resistant coating across all parking decks. This finish not only stands up to daily wear and harsh weather but also reduces the need for frequent maintenance.

Sustainability was a guiding principle throughout the project. Energy-efficient LED lighting systems, equipped with motion and ambient sensors, now illuminate the car park, automatically adjusting to usage and conditions. This smart technology enhances safety, reduces energy consumption, and creates a brighter, more welcoming environment for visitors.

To further support the transition to greener mobility, Q-Park has installed 13 new electric vehicle charging points. This investment not only caters to the growing number of EV motorists also contributes to national and local carbon reduction goals, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable urban infrastructure.

At Q-Park, we are on a mission to make every one of our parking facilities smarter and more seamless through our PaSS Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system. This innovative technology is transforming the way customers interact with our car parks by eliminating paper tickets and manual payments. Instead, vehicles are recognised instantly at entry and exit, enabling effortless access for registered users and convenient pay-on-exit options for casual visitors.

Finally, the entire facility received a fresh new look. A complete repaint of the interior and exterior revitalised the space, aligning it with Q-Park’s branding and transforming it into a clean, modern, and inviting destination. This visual overhaul reinforces a consistent customer experience and strengthens the car park’s role as a gateway to Windsor.

Ultimately, the success of this project signals potential for similar upgrades across the UK and beyond. As cities seek to modernise their infrastructure in response to climate, technological, and social change, the Q-Park Windsor Royal transformation offers a compelling example of what is possible when innovation meets purpose.

Adam Bidder, Managing Director commented “This project demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing modern, sustainable parking facilities that deliver a seamless experience for our customers. Thanks to the dedication of our teams, visitors to Windsor can now enjoy a car park that combines smart technology, improved safety, and enhanced convenience.”
