Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is the only UK charity dedicated solely to all forms of lung cancer and the people affected by it. Founded almost 30 years ago in Liverpool, the charity was renamed in honour of the musician and entertainer Roy Castle, who died of lung cancer 25 years ago. The Foundation undertakes a number of different activities including representing the interests of lung cancer patients and their families on national bodies such as NICE and the Scottish Medicines Authority.
They also offer first-class independently audited information and support services for patients and families, and fund world-class scientific research projects across the UK. They campaign on behalf of people living with lung cancer and to protect public health; to raise awareness of the disease, its signs and symptoms, and the issues that surround lung cancer.
The Foundation are holding a charitable walk in Liverpool on the 21st June. Q-Park have offered participants a huge 30% off parking on the night to help facilitate this event. They have also provided £100 worth of parking vouchers to be used as part of a prize draw open to event-goers.
As part of Q-Park’s commitment to a long-term partnership they have also provided a 10% off pre-booking code. Q-Park will donate a portion of the revenue earned from the usage of this code directly to the Foundation to help them to support people living with lung cancer.
John Denton, Head of Sales and Marketing, commented, ‘We are delighted to be able to partner with a charity as well-respected as Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. Cancer is a blight on the lives of millions of people and we hope that this partnership will help raise money for such a worthwhile cause.’
Jenny Lloyd, Fundraising Manager at the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, said, ‘We are naturally delighted that such a well-known brand as Q-Park have offered their support to our cause. We are hugely grateful for their assistance that will help us in our work. Lung cancer is Britain’s biggest cancer killer – it claims the lives of around 36,000 people each year.’
