Q-Park rolls out new App feature for seamless Pay & Display parking

Q-Park are thrilled to be able to announce that the Q-Park app can now be used to pay for parking at Pay & Display car parks operated by Britannia Parking across the UK.

Since its launch in 2020, the Q-Park app has been a trusted companion for motorists across Europe. Its core feature enables seamless access to Q-Park parking facilities in city centres. By registering their payment card and vehicle number plate in the app, customers can enter and exit car parks effortlessly, barriers open automatically on arrival and departure, with payment processed after they leave. New features added since include customers managing their Season Ticket via the app and the ability to book parking online. The Q-Park app is available at facilities across the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, and Denmark, serving more than 1.5 million users throughout Europe.

Q-Park completed the well-publicised acquisition of Britannia Parking last year which was their first foray into the operation and management of barrierless pay and display car parks. With over 25 years’ experience establishing and managing car parks, Britannia Parking has earned the reputation for being one of the most respected operators in the UK. They have a national footprint consisting of over 600 car parks. As well as owning and leasing their own parking facilities they also manage car parks on behalf of landowners. These clients vary from large established funds and organisations to independent property developers, pubs and even retail parks.

Since the acquisition, the Q-Park and Britannia teams have worked closely together to identify opportunities for shared systems that enhance and benefit both businesses. One area identified is to use the Q-Park app and introduce seamless parking across the Britannia Estate. Development work has now been completed to enable Q-Park app users to pay for parking at more than 90 Britannia Parking facilities across the UK. Customers simply park their vehicle and either enter the location code displayed on-site or select the location directly from the in-app map. Once their number plate and payment card are registered, users can use the app’s intuitive spinning wheel to choose their desired parking duration, with the cost clearly displayed before confirmation. After confirming, the active parking session appears in the app, along with the option to easily extend their stay if required.

This now means that as well as their comprehensive city centre offering, the Q-Park app now opens up locations such as tourist hit spot, the Isle of Wight, beach locations such as Flamborough and new towns and cities such as Peterborough. As Britannia Parking continues to secure new contracts to manage additional car parks, and with the Q-Park app now a powerful addition to their offering, significant growth is expected in the coming months.

John Denton, Director of Commercial at Q-Park UK commented “At Q-Park we are always looking to expand the digital offering for all the businesses that we operate. We saw a really strong opportunity to expand the use of our Q-Park app for Britannia parking customers. We look forward to welcoming the first users from these locations on the app.”

Paula Snowdon, Director of Britannia Parking added “The ability to offer our customers an easy way to pay for their parking digitally on an owned system is a real game changer for our business and ensures that we stand out from the crowd to prospective clients and landowners.”
