What to expect at Mercury Prize Fringe 2026
The Mercury Prize Fringe turns Newcastle into a city-wide celebration of music and culture in the run-up to one of the biggest nights in the British and Irish music calendar.
The 2026 programme is the Fringe's biggest yet, with more than 30 events providing opportunities to discover new music, see artists perform live and get involved in Newcastle's thriving music scene.
Events will range from intimate performances and listening parties to film screenings, creative workshops, talks and music industry events, with a particular focus on providing a platform for emerging North East artists and creatives.
The Fringe culminates on Thursday 22 October, when the 2026 Mercury Prize Awards Show takes place at Utilita Arena Newcastle, featuring live performances from many of the year's shortlisted artists before the overall winner is announced.
