The Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome is one of Scotland’s premier cycling venues and a world‑class centre for indoor track cycling. Located within the Emirates Arena complex in Glasgow’s East End, it attracts elite athletes, major sporting events, and cycling enthusiasts from across the UK. Whether you're attending a competition, participating in a session, or exploring the wider Emirates Arena facilities, Q‑Park offers convenient parking options nearby.
Named in honour of Sir Chris Hoy, six‑time Olympic gold medallist and Scottish cycling legend, the velodrome opened in 2012 and was purpose‑built for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, hosting the track cycling events.
The venue features a 250‑metre indoor track constructed from specialist Siberian pine, designed by renowned track architect Ralph Schuermann. This provides a high‑performance racing surface that meets elite international standards.
With a permanent seating capacity of 2,500, the velodrome offers an electric spectator atmosphere.
The facility forms part of the Emirates Arena, which includes multi‑sport halls, a hydraulic indoor athletics track, fitness studios, external courts, and community spaces.
Cyclists of all abilities can access training sessions, accreditation programmes and community cycling activities, making it both a world‑class competition venue and a hub for developing the next generation of riders.
Visitors attending events or cycling sessions can access secure, centrally‑located parking at Q‑Park facilities across Glasgow. From these car parks, the venue is easily reached via local transport connections, walking routes or cycling paths.
For convenience, we recommended Q-Park Candleriggs. A short walk away from the stadium and close to central hotels, the car park is perfect for multi-day events or weekend breaks.
Pre‑booking is recommended during major events for a smooth and efficient arrival.
