Samson and Goliath are Belfast’s iconic yellow gantry cranes at the Harland & Wolff shipyard, dominating the city skyline and symbolizing its proud shipbuilding heritage. Constructed in 1969 (Goliath) and 1974 (Samson), each crane stands approximately 96 m and 106 m tall, boasts lifting capacity of up to 840 tonnes, and is now protected as historic monuments.
