From 12 November to 21 December 2026, York Christmas Market returns to Parliament Street and St Sampson's Square. Traditional alpine chalets fill the heart of the city with Christmas gifts, handmade crafts, artisan products and seasonal food and drink, with more than 80% of traders coming from Yorkshire.
The market is open Wednesday to Monday throughout the festive period, with Tuesdays introduced as a weekly rest day for 2026. Even when the market is closed, York's independent shops, visitor attractions, cafés and restaurants remain open, giving visitors plenty of opportunities to explore the city.
Beyond the market, wander York's historic streets and The Shambles, shop around Coppergate and Stonegate, visit York Minster or enjoy one of the many festive performances and seasonal events taking place across the city. York's theatres and entertainment venues also offer plenty of opportunities to add a Christmas show to your visit.
