Q-Park and SOLT join forces to re-launch discount theatre parking scheme
Monday, 19 December 2011

The European car parking company Q-Park has joined forces with the Society of London Theatre (SOLT), to re-launch its car parking scheme to benefit West End theatre-goers.

A visit to a West End theatre is an unforgettable experience. Q-Park’s Theatreland Parking Scheme makes it even better with 50% off parking charges for up to 24 hours. Theatre-goers just have to validate their car park ticket at one of the 42 participating theatres and the 50% discount will automatically be applied on payment at the car park pay machine.

The offer is valid seven days a week and it includes Q-Park’s premier central London parking destinations: Chinatown, Soho, Trafalgar Square, Oxford Street, Marble Arch/Park Lane and Pimlico. Q-Park will be substantially upgrading all of the 12 recently acquired Central London car parks as part of a three year £10 million improvement plan which will bring the car parks in line with the Q-Park standard. Q-Park car parks are typically exceptionally clean and well lit, have clearly illuminated signage, secure vehicle and pedestrian entrances and 24 hour CCTV in operation. Car park hosts conduct regular patrols 24 hours a day and provide assistance to customers returning to their cars. This makes the car parks perfect for those who want somewhere convenient and safe to return to after their theatre trip: families visiting a matinee, those combining shopping and a show or even an overnight stay, and particularly those returning to their cars late at night, especially women on their own.

Q-Park have already won the prestigious Park Mark award for 10 of their 12 central London car parks as recognition of their high standards of security and safety measurements and they hope that after the Chinatown and Oxford Street sites have received the Q-Park treatment within the next 12 months, these too will also enjoy this accreditation.

Q-Park has acquired an international reputation for providing parking destinations of the highest quality and recently won‘Best of the Best’ at the British Parking Awards for its impressive standards of car park design, safety and security.

Said Adam Bidder, managing director of Q-Park: “We are delighted to have re-launched this scheme with the Society of London Theatre and hope that our contribution will help to make visiting a show even more magical.”

Julian Bird, Chief Executive Officer, SOLT said: “Discount parking schemes such as this are invaluable to West End performers and audiences, particularly at a time when West End evening and Sunday parking charges are due to start. We are pleased to be partnering with Q-Park in order to offer theatre-goers an affordable and safe place to park.”
